Business information

The operator is a business registered in the Republic of Korea. The registered name and representative are recorded in Korean; the romanisation in brackets is informal.

1. In one line

SeeAnyFile does not send your files anywhere. There is no account, no sign-in, no tracking and no usage analytics in the program. Everything, including background removal and text recognition (OCR), runs on your computer. The program uses the internet only when you choose to: to download an optional AI model (section 3b), and to show sponsored pictures if you switch them on (section 3c). Neither sends photos, file names or personal data.

The website (section 3d) counts page views and downloads without cookies and without storing IP addresses, and may show advertisements.

2. Personal data the program collects

None. SeeAnyFile does not collect, store or transmit names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, device identifiers, location data or usage history. No account and no sign-in is required to install, run or use it.

2a. Personal data processed when you contact us

If you write or call using the details above, we process what you send us, for as long as it takes to answer you. You provide this yourself; the program does not collect it.

This is never used for anything else and is never passed to a third party.

3. Your files

The contents of the images and PDFs you open are processed only on your computer.

• A file is read only when you opened it yourself: through the file dialog, by dropping it on the window, by opening it with SeeAnyFile from Explorer, or because it sits in the same folder as a file you opened that way.
• Any other path is refused inside the program.
• File contents, file names and paths are never sent to a server.

3a. AI features (background removal, text recognition, face detection, personal-data scan, upscaling, AI eraser)

Background removal, text recognition, face detection (to blur faces), the personal-data scan, AI upscaling and the AI eraser run only on your computer. The personal-data scan finds faces and, in text read from the picture, resident or ID numbers, card numbers, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and passport, bank-account and number-plate numbers. Your photos and the results, including anything the personal-data scan finds, are never uploaded and never used to train anything. The models for background removal, text recognition, face detection and upscaling are included in the installer; the AI eraser model is an optional download (section 3b). The usage-statistics feature of the AI runtime (ONNX Runtime) is switched off in the program's code.

3b. Optional model downloads (high-quality background removal, AI eraser)

Two AI models are not in the installer; you download each one if and when you want it: the high-quality background-removal model (about 170 MB) and the AI eraser model (about 28 MB).

3d. The website and its server

The website (seeanyfile.com) is a static site delivered by Cloudflare. A small server run by the operator (hosted by Railway, with a PostgreSQL database) counts page views and downloads and serves advertisements.

• No cookies are set, and nothing is stored in your browser for statistics.
• The one exception: if you pick a language in the website's language menu, the choice is kept in a cookie (sa_lang, one year) so the home page opens in that language next time. It holds only the language code, is not used for statistics or advertising, and goes when you clear your cookies.
• On a first visit, the home page opens in the language your browser asks for (Accept-Language). That is used only to pick the page and is not stored.
• If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, no page view is recorded.
• Search engines and other bots are not counted.

Advertisements on the website. Some areas of the website may show advertisements. An advertisement runs in an isolated frame served from the operator's server, so it cannot read or change the page you are reading. If an advertisement comes from an advertising network, that network may set its own cookies or collect data according to its own privacy policy; you can block or delete those cookies in your browser. Before any advertising that uses personal data for targeting is shown to visitors in regions that require consent (such as the European Economic Area), the website will ask for that consent first.

3e. Documents, search, tidying photos, plain-word commands and document questions

Viewing documents (Word, Hangul HWP/HWPX, PowerPoint, Excel and others), reading receipt and contract details, tidying photos, plain-word commands and questions about a document are all handled on your computer by default, and nothing is sent anywhere.

• Search index. Only for folders you add to search, the file names, paths, sizes and modification times, and the words inside documents, PDFs and ZIP files, are kept in an index file on your computer (section 4). Removing a folder from search deletes its records. The index is never sent anywhere.
• Tidying photos. Photos you move "to the Recycle Bin" are not deleted; they go to the Windows Recycle Bin, where you can restore them.
• Answers by Claude (optional, off by default). Only if you turn this on in Settings, agree in the dialog that explains it and enter your own Anthropic API key, asking a document a question sends the question and up to six short passages of the document that match it to api.anthropic.com (Anthropic PBC, United States). The file itself, its name and path, and passages unrelated to the question are not sent; if no passage matches, nothing is sent. What is sent is handled under Anthropic's privacy policy, and usage is billed to your Anthropic account. Your API key is kept by Windows Credential Manager, never in a settings file. You can switch this off, or use "Forget the key and turn off", at any time.
• Transfer abroad (Korean Personal Information Protection Act, Art. 28-8). Only while this is on, each question sends the question and passages of the document over the network to Anthropic PBC's servers in the United States; how long they are kept follows Anthropic's policy. If you do not want this transfer, leave the feature off: questions are still answered on your computer.

3f. Update checks (optional, off by default) and the job journal

• Update checks. Only in a copy built with the maker's signing key, and only after you turn this on in Settings and agree to the explanation, SeeAnyFile asks GitHub (GitHub, Inc., part of Microsoft, United States) for one small file (latest.json) each time it starts. The request carries no files, no file names, no usage, no version number and no device ID; GitHub sees your IP address and ordinary request details. A new version is downloaded only when you click "Install now", and installed only if its signature matches the maker's key. You can turn it off in Settings at any time; while off, nothing is asked. Transfer abroad (Korean Personal Information Protection Act, Art. 28-8): only while this is on, each check passes your IP address to GitHub's servers in the United States; how long it is kept follows GitHub's policy.
• Job journal. While many pictures are being converted at once, the request (the files' paths and the settings) and how far it got are written to a file on your computer (section 4), so the run can be finished after a crash or a shutdown. The record is deleted when the run ends or is let go, and after seven days in any case. It is never sent anywhere.
• Password-protected PDFs. A password you type to open, lock or unlock a PDF is used for that task only; it is not stored or logged.

4. What is stored on your computer

All of this stays on your computer; the library and its counts are never sent anywhere. Release builds log warnings and errors only, and never log file contents.

5. Third parties and hosting

The program contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK and no crash-reporting service. The operator does not sell or provide your data to anyone. The services below process data only to deliver what you asked for:

Transfer abroad (Korean Personal Information Protection Act, Art. 28-8). To run the statistics and advertising server, the information in section 3d is sent over the network, at the moment of each request, to Railway Corporation (railway.com) servers in the United States and stored there for the periods in section 3d. The data stored there contains no IP addresses and no identifiers. You may object to this by not using the website's download button (use the GitHub releases page directly) and by blocking the website's requests; the program itself works without it.

6. Bundled software

SeeAnyFile never installs additional programs, toolbars or advertising software during installation or update.

7. Future features

Later phases may add document-analysis (AI) features. If such a feature needs to send data off your computer, the program will say so plainly before it runs and will act only after you explicitly agree. No such transfer will ever be the default.

8. Children

SeeAnyFile collects no personal data from anyone, including children. Sponsored pictures in the program are off unless switched on and are never chosen based on who is using the computer.

9. Your rights

Because the program collects nothing and the website's statistics hold no IP addresses or identifiers, there is no data about you to access, correct or delete on our side. The settings, cache and logs stored on your computer can be removed by you using the table above.

For data processed through an enquiry (section 2a) you may request access, correction, deletion or suspension of processing under Articles 35 to 37 of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act. Write to the address above and we will act without delay.
