Get the key points of a document

A 40-page report and five minutes to read it. Key points picks the sentences that carry the document, on your PC, and shows each one with where it came from, so you can check it in context.

How to do it, step by step

  1. Open the document or PDF in SeeAnyFile.
  2. Click Key points on the toolbar, or find it in the command palette (Ctrl+K) or the right-click menu.
  3. Choose Short, Medium or Detailed for 3, 5 or 10 points.
  4. Click a point's chip, such as “p. 3”, to jump to that sentence, highlighted in the document.
  5. Copy the points, or save them as a new .txt file beside the document.

What you can do with it

  • Works on PDF (its text, or text recognition already done on a scan), Word, Hangul (HWP, HWPX), PowerPoint, text and Markdown.
  • Tables are summed up in one line that counts them, instead of being cut into fragments.
  • Repeated points are removed, and page numbers and running headers are left out.
  • Every point is a sentence from the document itself, never invented text.

Where your file goes

Key points are chosen on your PC from the document's own sentences, with no internet. Only if you have switched on answers by Claude with your own API key is there an extra button that rewrites them with Claude; it sends at most the selected passages, never the file, and is marked as remote.

Good to know

  • It picks sentences rather than writing new ones, so the wording stays the author's.
  • A very long book runs as a job you can pause.

Questions

Does Key points need the internet?

No. It runs on your PC, with no internet and no account.

Is it an AI summary?

It ranks the document's own sentences by how central they are and where they sit. It never generates text, so it cannot make things up.

Can I keep the points?

Yes. Copy them, or save them as a .txt file beside the document; the document itself is not changed.
