Comic books and archives

CBZ, CB7, CBT, ZIP, 7z and TAR read like books: two pages, right to left, or one long webtoon strip (V). ZIP files can be browsed without unpacking.

Colour and HDR done right

ICC profiles, Adobe RGB, Display P3 and CMYK shown in their true colours; HDR pictures tone-mapped with an exposure control (Alt+[ and Alt+]).

The next picture is read ahead, so it is there the moment you flip. Folders sort the way people read (IMG2 before IMG10).

F11, Enter or a middle-click. Fit width or height, keep the zoom for the next picture, and jump folders with [ and ].

Compare side by side

Two or four pictures zoomed and panned together (G), a loupe (hold Z), a histogram and a colour picker (P).

Open more windows (Ctrl+N) and link them (Ctrl+Shift+K) so zoom, pan and paging move together, one per monitor if you like.

Find what changed

Put two versions of a picture side by side and see the differences as a heat map with numbered boxes (Ctrl+Shift+D).

Timing, transitions and looping; new pictures that land in the folder join the show as soon as they are complete.

Organise and find

Stars, labels, picks and tags

Rate with Shift+0–5, colour-label with Alt+1–5, pick or reject with Alt+P and Alt+X, add your own tags (Alt+T), then filter the filmstrip.

XMP sidecars

Export and import ratings, labels and tags in the XMP files that Lightroom, Bridge and darktable read.

Find similar and duplicate photos

Look-alikes (Ctrl+Shift+L), identical copies and blurry shots found on your PC, with the best of each set suggested.

Search inside your files

A local index finds folders’ files by the words inside documents and PDFs (Ctrl+Shift+F), and by tag, date taken or camera.

Rename many files at once

Counters, dates and find-and-replace with a live preview (Shift+F2), undo for the whole batch, even after a restart.

Import from a memory card

Copy photos from an SD card with a record of what was imported, verified before anything is deleted from the card.

Edit and convert

Crop, resize, rotate, undo

Every edit can be undone, and JPEGs turn and flip without losing quality. Saving writes a new file (Ctrl+E); the original is never overwritten.

A proper editor

Brightness, contrast, colour and sharpness, nine filters, mosaic, blur and red-eye, pen, arrows, shapes and text, watermarks, frames and ID-photo crops.

Convert whole folders

Ctrl+B turns many files into JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP or TIFF at once, with sizes, a file-size limit, print size and DPI, filters and saved recipes.
