Turn a table in a photo or scan into Excel
A price list photographed on a phone, or a scanned report full of figures? SeeAnyFile finds the table, splits it into its cells, lets you check them, and saves an Excel workbook beside the file.
How to do it, step by step
- Open the photo or the PDF in SeeAnyFile.
- Choose Table to Excel in the text panel, the PDF tools or a PDF's right-click menu, or press Ctrl+K and type “table”.
- Check the preview: the cells are drawn over the picture, and cells read with less confidence have a dashed line. Click one to correct it.
- Untick a table you do not want, or press Copy table to paste it straight into a spreadsheet.
- Press Save as Excel. The workbook is saved beside the original (as “name (1).xlsx” if the name is taken).

What you can do with it
- Ruled tables and tables split only by the gaps between columns, merged cells and cells written on several lines included.
- Figures become numbers Excel can add up, with a decimal comma or point read from the figures themselves.
- A slightly tilted photo is levelled before the cells are measured.
- A PDF gives one sheet per table, named by its page; a PDF with real text is read from that text, without guessing.
Where your file goes
The picture is read on your PC. Nothing is uploaded, which matters for the receipts, payslips and statements people usually photograph.
Good to know
- A blurred or very small table reads poorly: photograph it straight with the table filling the frame, or flatten it with Document scan first.
- A long scanned PDF is read page by page with progress; you can stop, and the pages already read are kept.
Questions
Does it work on a photo taken with my phone?
Yes. Copy the photo to the PC and open it. A sharp, straight photo with the table filling the frame works best.
Is the photo or the PDF uploaded?
No. The text is read and the workbook is written on your computer.
Can I fix a cell before saving?
Yes. Click a cell in the preview, type, and press Enter. Cells worth checking are marked with a dashed line.
